BACHATA SATURDAYS
LoadingIt started with Sarishtha — one Saturday at a time.
Bachata Saturdays began with a simple dream—to create a space where people could experience the joy of Bachata without feeling intimidated. There wasn’t a grand plan, a large team, or even a dance partner. It was just me, a deep love for the dance, and the belief that consistency always beats perfection.
The early days were filled with learning, experimenting, and showing up every weekend, regardless of the numbers. Every student who trusted me, every class that ended with smiling faces, and every small milestone became a reminder that meaningful communities are built one person at a time.
Looking back, I’m grateful I started before I felt “ready.” Bachata Saturdays exists today because of countless small steps taken with passion, patience, and purpose.
I’ll never forget that first class.
There was excitement, nervousness, and so many questions running through my mind. Would people enjoy it? Would they come back? Was I doing enough?
That day reminded me that teaching isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to learn, make mistakes, and have fun. Watching beginners fall in love with Bachata has remained one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
That first Saturday wasn’t just the beginning of a class; it was the beginning of a community that continues to grow with every new dancer who walks through the door.
What started as a weekly class slowly grew into something much bigger than I imagined.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching at Bachata festivals and Latin dance events in India and abroad, connecting with dancers from different cities and sharing my passion beyond Bangalore. Every festival has also reminded me that teaching and learning go hand in hand.
I strongly believe that a teacher should always remain a student. I continue to train with international artists, attend festivals, and keep evolving with the ever-changing styles of Bachata so I can bring fresh ideas, better technique, and authentic learning back to my students. Bristi joining as co-instructor was part of that growth too, bringing her own energy and styles into the room.
For a long time, I performed solo, and those experiences shaped me as both a dancer and an instructor. Building a performance team has been an entirely different kind of joy—watching dancers grow together, support one another, and confidently take the stage has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey.
Today, Bachata Saturdays is more than just dance classes. It’s a community built on trust, friendships, growth, and a shared love for Bachata.
Today, I still carry the same excitement I had on day one.
The community has grown, the classes have evolved, we’ve performed on bigger stages, taught across festivals, launched workshops, built an incredible team, and even found a home online with our very own website.
But the heart of Bachata Saturdays hasn’t changed.
It’s still about helping people discover confidence through dance, creating meaningful connections, and making every student feel like they belong.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted me, learned with me, supported the journey, and become a part of this story.
Every new batch is another chapter—a celebration of everything we’ve built together, and a promise that the best is yet to come.
